Analytics in the cloud – SAP BusinessObjects Cloud

Would you like a tool that’s easy and intuitive to use straight from your web-browser so that you easily can access, analyze and present your data? Now it’s possible using the new and fast-developing tool from SAP, SAP BusinessObjects Cloud (BOC). The goal with BOC is to have one tool in the cloud for all analytics, so planning, BI and predictive are the three main parts of this tool.

BOC is a standalone tool within the cloud that easily connects to your on-premise systems or lets you host data in the cloud. First of all, we recognize that a lot of organizations aren’t ready, willing or interested in moving all (or part) of their data to the cloud. One of the biggest perks to BOC is that you can use it as an external system to access your on-premise data without the need to store anything in the cloud. This means that you have none of the typical costs which come with a separate system to host an on-premise analytics tool and you get around the trouble with your data being hosted off-premise. You pay a monthly fee which gives you a user and a personal URL to BOC from which you may setup a connection to your own on-premise system and access your data. This is most easily viewed as a subscription, allowing you to leverage a whole new tool that is powered by HANA. This also allows you to create your own intricate data-models from files such as excel sheets, .csv files and others by importing the files and setting up your personal data-model. This will later allow you to create visualizations, create calculations and share the document with others.Read More »

Greetings from Autodesk One Team X

There are big changes going on at Autodesk. Annual One Team  X conference in Berlin, Germany, gathered together almost all European distributors and resellers. The conference was held in April 2016, and I had the pleasure to take part in it. As pointed out in the conference, July this year is the last month to sell all the rest perpetual licenses, and that cloud services will expand also when it comes to Autodesk. For a long time, single Autodesk licenses have not been sold as perpetual, and now all the suite soutions will be purely sold through periodical subscription model. That is, from August, Autodesk licenses will be available in one or four months’ quick periods, and in one to three years’ longer periods. This means, that maintenance subscription is not available anymore and renewals are possible only for old contracts. So pay attention to this, as especially for large organisations it’s cheaper to pay maintenance subscription fee and keep on track of their liceses like this. At least for now.Read More »

Don’t we all have different identities?

Just like Batman, Superman or Wonder women we all have different identities. We might not all be superheroes but we do try and from time to time we are almost at their level. As they switch from one identity to another and try to locate that phone booth (which might be a little challenging today) to go from Clark Kent to Superman we also face a similar challenge today remembering all the different logins, addresses to all these different services. It could be work, private or a combination both. That is how life’s looks today more than ever when we comparing with just a few decades back – superheroes combining both our busy private and work life.Read More »
