What have happened in the last twenty years in the Business Intelligence area? The term and technique with using fact-based support system was actually started already in the 1960s and developed thought the mid-1980s. The usage wasn’t widespread until late 1990s and organizations started to adopt the definitions and technology. When I comes to data warehouse there has been a lot of innovators during the establishment. The most famous Ralph Kimball and Bill Inmon has put the foundation that many organizations used to build up their data warehouses.
Would you like a tool that’s easy and intuitive to use straight from your web-browser so that you easily can access, analyze and present your data? Now it’s possible using the new and fast-developing tool from SAP, SAP BusinessObjects Cloud (BOC). The goal with BOC is to have one tool in the cloud for all analytics, so planning, BI and predictive are the three main parts of this tool.
BOC is a standalone tool within the cloud that easily connects to your on-premise systems or lets you host data in the cloud. First of all, we recognize that a lot of organizations aren’t ready, willing or interested in moving all (or part) of their data to the cloud. One of the biggest perks to BOC is that you can use it as an external system to access your on-premise data without the need to store anything in the cloud. This means that you have none of the typical costs which come with a separate system to host an on-premise analytics tool and you get around the trouble with your data being hosted off-premise. You pay a monthly fee which gives you a user and a personal URL to BOC from which you may setup a connection to your own on-premise system and access your data. This is most easily viewed as a subscription, allowing you to leverage a whole new tool that is powered by HANA. This also allows you to create your own intricate data-models from files such as excel sheets, .csv files and others by importing the files and setting up your personal data-model. This will later allow you to create visualizations, create calculations and share the document with others.Read More »
